Perfect Apple Pie Recipe

3 lbs apples (4-5 medium apples), peeled, cored and sliced 1 tablespoon lemon juice 3/4 cup white sugar 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 425°F.

In a large bowl, toss apples slices with lemon juice. Mix in sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt until apples are coated.

Line a 9-inch pie pan with one pie crust. Scoop apple mixture into the pie crust.

Cut second crust into 1/2-inch wide strips. Weave strips in a lattice pattern on top of filling. Trim edges and crimp as desired.

Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 375°F and continue baking 35-45 minutes more until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.

Allow pie to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
